She did go through some breathing problems (course breathing/asthma?) for
about a year which I have shared with a couple families. When she was very
active, you could hear a rattle in the bronchial tubes (sounded like fluid
building up). Currently she has no breathing problems. The breathing problem
disappeared and it has been over a year now since this cleared up for whatever
reason. We had just one occasion last fall where she had a problem. Only once
did it bother her, otherwise, never slowed her down. She was trying to help blow
up her swimming pool and couldn't get her breath. That was scary. I think the
fumes from new vinyl got to her.

Katie is missing her two bottom front baby teeth.
First teeth came
in one week after 1st birthday. Our dentist tells us
the missing teeth
could be due to some environmental factor - she could have had a high fever just
as the teeth should have been forming - or it could be genetic. Seems trivial -
especially since the adult teeth are there and will come in on schedule. But if
several Tongling babies from 1996 are missing teeth it could be significant.
Katie also is allergic to a couple of food dyes..... Slightly
allergic to red dye #40 and violently allergic to
all numbered yellow dyes. She also has severe Raynaud's with attacks
of skin breakdown on the fingers
and toes.

Emily's
hands are very sensitive to cold. She will
actually cry at times because her
hands hurt when they get cold. I wonder if she may have had
frostbite at some point. She loves being outdoors and loves the snow but
I take extra precautions to keep her hands
warm & dry. Even this time of year,
the cool evenings will bother her hands.

Mia is an extremely heavy breather.
Whether that is a problem or not, I'm not sure. Mia also has little
black scars (look like thin, marker line or tattoos) on the backs of her
hands. The Dr. that came to China with us said that they may have been
caused from intravenous. He said it is not that uncommon to put a child
with a cold on intravenous in China. I'm not sure what would have to be
done to an intravenous line to cause tattooing.?? We've been home
six months and one hand has begun to fade, the other is still dark.

One anonymous child tested Hepatitis B
positive.
