Did the children form strong attachments in the
orphanage? Did they form strong attachments after being home?
No she did not form a strong attachment in
the orphanage (7 mo).
attachment within days, if not hours of
adoption. Clearly thought that being
adopted was great, and would follow Bill and me with her eyes all the
time.
I believe that my daughter did form a
strong attachment to her caregiver.
Before I got to hold her, I watched her with her nanny (of course!
as if I could take my eyes off of her!).
It was obvious that she was happy & comfortable
with the nanny. I saw a smiley, curious 10.5 month old who laughed.
Once I had her in my arms, she shut
down. No eye contact, no smiles & definitely
no laughs for the next 24 hours or so. Once she was comfortable, she
was full of smiles & made excellent eye
contact. It was shortly after we arrived
home that she started giving spontaneous hugs & kisses. Yes, she
formed a strong and healthy
attachment over time.
